“My Son” Portrait Painting

June 16, 2013 by portfolio_TAWadmin

Happy Father's Day! I titled this featured portrait painting "My Son", to reflect the special connection between parent and child which is relevant any time of the year. I have several other images that I'll be working from that also display the sense of awe and tenderness that is at the core of the parent/child relationship. … [Read more...] about “My Son” Portrait Painting

Sidewalk Chalk – Sketched Illustration

June 5, 2013 by portfolio_TAWadmin

While doing a little spring cleaning in my daughter's room I dumped over a container of colored chalk which left a colorful spray of pastel pink, blue and green all over the floor. It made me think of the wonderful warm afternoons of making bright sidewalk chalk pictures with the girls to welcome home their dad. We never know where the sidewalk will take us so we might as well make the journey colorful. … [Read more...] about Sidewalk Chalk – Sketched Illustration

The illustration of the man's face that I am also posting was done on the train that we traveled to Venice. There's a lot of down time when you're traveling, but I love to look at the … [Read more...] about My Illustration of the Bronze Statue in Italy

First and Last of Italy – Open Air Painting

March 20, 2013 by portfolio_TAWadmin

This was the very first open air painting I did in Italy. I walked about one block up from the Arrioto (block, they don't really have blocks. There's basically one road that runs through town and it may split off and run around a couple central buildings and then merge back together futher along). When I first saw the building I just stared at it for a while. It was just to the right of where the road split away like a Y, so all there was to sit on was the stoop of the building at the center of … [Read more...] about First and Last of Italy – Open Air Painting
