Bicycling.
One of my favorite activities is bicycling. Quick jaunt around the block. Miles down the bike trail. I’ll take what I can get. My obsession started at a young age. When my five year old legs became too long for the tricycle my younger sister was anxious to inherit I took to catching a ride on the rack on the back of my older brother or sister’s two wheeler. I didn’t mind being their passenger around our neighborhood in Madison, as they could pedal farther and faster. The only drawback was getting my barefoot big toe tweaked by the back wheel spokes when I wasn’t careful about keeping my feet far enough away.
When my family moved to the country we had farther to ride, as long as we were sure to tell Mom and Dad we were going around the block. A five mile block is a pretty sweet ride.

Sweet Ride.
Now days my sweet ride consists of a husband hugging cruise down a country road on our motorcycle. Though don’t get me wrong, I still love the treks on my bicycle, and I try to get one in every day as long as the weather permits.
Soon frigid temps and icy roads will leave me with only the opportunity to draw a sweet ride, like this quick sketch in gouache and ink.
Happy trails.
