This illustration was sketched from a bronze statue that was placed near the pool area at the Arrioto. I altered her kneeling position to make her look as though she was bathing in nature. The statue was kneeling within a bowl like fountain shape.
I tried to take my sketch book with me as many places as I could. The illustration of the man’s face that I am also posting was done on the train that we traveled to Venice. There’s a lot of down time when you’re traveling, but I love to look at the people and my surroundings as I go along. I tried not to look too suspect as I sketched this man’s face from a distance although the people around me looked back and forth between my paper and my subject. He had such an interesting face and nose, and I just love drawing people’s faces and poses.
People are amazing to watch.
I sometimes worry that people that stare into their smart phones and media are missing so much of the interesting detail in the world around them.
