Layered Paper Art

August 13, 2021 by portfolio_TAWadmin

Paper.

The amazing thing about paper is all that you can do with it. It also comes in wonderful colors, thicknesses, and textures. Another wonderful thing about it is that it can be recycled to become something new and beautiful again. What a precious resource.

The hard thing about that, is that it can become so precious that it paralyzes your willingness to make free and loose markings on it. Fear of wasting expensive paper can inhibit creativity. It’s hard to find just the right balance.

Layered Papers.

When I’m working on layered paper pieces I feel free to use old cards, and other castoffs to be reincorporated into my artwork. One of my latest stories involves using just such a process.

I find this process of layered papers apropos to the story of loving relationships that I am telling. I’m posting just a small portion of one of the story spreads. It also includes my personal touches of illustrated faces and figures.

Read into the layers of the relationships in your life, and don’t forget to add the personal touches.
