History of Horse Art

April 7, 2015 by portfolio_TAWadmin

The history of horse art tells quite a bit about our relationship to the horse through time. They've helped us tame, till and cross the countryside. They have been our companions and a force to reckon with. Artists have chased this recording of the horse's importance throughout history. From cave art, to battle scenes and statements of wealth and prominence, the depiction of the horse requires a keen observation or in the very least an apreciation of the beauty of their form. Their grace and … [Read more...] about History of Horse Art

Colored Marker Art

February 27, 2015 by portfolio_TAWadmin

A couple things that I've come across lately have sparked an interest in colored marker art. I'm an occassional thrift shop browser and about a month ago I purchased a book addressing a marker/colored pencil approach for architectural and landscape drawing that would be of interest to designers and artists. It gave great examples of how to use the two media to achieve different kinds of looks. Then a few weeks ago I came across a used set of Le Plume colored markers. Some of them were a bit … [Read more...] about Colored Marker Art

Sheep

February 6, 2015 by portfolio_TAWadmin

As I was looking through an old portfolio of my work for something to post I came across this line drawing I had done from a photo I took of the lambs I use to own. It wasn't an overwhelming job, and spending time … [Read more...] about Sheep

Perhaps it's best to just stick to a cookie or two, or better yet, just taste some of the sweetest stuff of the season. Which of course is the love and sharing of good times between family and friends. Merry Christmas all! … [Read more...] about Christmas Candy

Colored Pencils

November 18, 2014 by portfolio_TAWadmin

Digging in my large black portfolio for a piece to feature on my blog I came across this colored pencil drawing that I'd done from a photo I snapped on a hiking adventure with some college chums. I was pleased with how clean and crisp the drawing still looked, and how fresh the memory of that day away from studies remained as I gazed at the smiling faces on the page. That drawing is now 35 years old and still looks as though I had just drawn it. It got me wondering. Do drawings have an … [Read more...] about Colored Pencils
