Captain Hook’s Crocodile

January 8, 2020 by portfolio_TAWadmin

Hard headed wretch One month, here in my dining room, a crocodile appeared. He came out of nowhere to haunt me.Though I admit, I went looking for him.The parts and pieces I collected would eventually taunt me."Assemble my bones!" I could hear the wretch shout. What a hard head he was, with a large gaping snout. He was not fully breathing, still his presence was something I feared.Days and minutes tick ticked by while this creature came into being.Endless pin pricks, searing glue daubs. I'm sure … [Read more...] about Captain Hook’s Crocodile

Santa and little Holiday men

December 1, 2019 by portfolio_TAWadmin

Santa Claus is Coming I'm sure that jolly little fellow has been on many minds since the Thanksgiving holiday has passed. He certainly has been on my mind as I've been creating little Santa and holiday men over the past few weeks, to sell this coming weekend at a local fair, and then to place on my site. I snapped a photo of one to share. Photos of Santa Kids for generations have been hoping to snap a photo of Santa in the act, but most often settle for posing for one with Santa at … [Read more...] about Santa and little Holiday men

Chipmunks

October 2, 2019 by portfolio_TAWadmin

Darling or Deleterious They've been scurrying about my yard and garden all summer. Planting things in my flower pots. I'm certain my pot of geraniums would not support an oak tree. I thought my fence around the vegetable garden was enough to deter critters. Still, the little snitches found a way in and were doing a bit of harvesting themselves. Yes, they are darling to look at, but their pirating habits are deleterious to MY storage efforts for the winter. I would make them walk the … [Read more...] about Chipmunks

North Woods Nature

August 22, 2019 by portfolio_TAWadmin

One With Nature Out running on my fifth day of experiencing being one with nature, I had a vision of what I was going to do for this post. I plodded along twin tree-rooted dirt paths. Plodding being the key word here as I hadn't run in four months. ATV's had run here before. I'm sure they made quicker work of it than I. Their drivers would have had a different purpose than I however. They were no doubt trying to get somewhere. I, on the other hand, was trying to stay here. Here in this … [Read more...] about North Woods Nature

Sizing Up

June 25, 2019 by portfolio_TAWadmin

Raining, sunny, cold, hot and humid, that's been our spring. Luckily, I've made the best use of lots of my 'stuck indoors' time by reading. I'd rather be outside riding bike, gardening or shooting hoops with my daughter. But in the end, I'm happy to have finally found some time to tackle the stack of books I've acquired over the past several years. Some books I've come by at writing conferences, some came from family and friends and some are on loan from the Little Free Library boxes around … [Read more...] about Sizing Up
