Sheep

February 6, 2015 by portfolio_TAWadmin

As I was looking through an old portfolio of my work for something to post I came across this line drawing I had done from a photo I took of the lambs I use to own. My father had purchased a small herd when I was younger eager to see what type of livestock would do well on the small acreage of our farm. It was my sisters and my task to look after the sheep and keep their shed clean. You couldn't have asked for a more fullfilling job as a youth. It wasn't an overwhelming job, and spending time … [Read more...] about Sheep

Christmas Candy

December 19, 2014 by portfolio_TAWadmin

It's that time of year for gift giving and unfortunately a lot of sweet eating. So if you're looking around for Christmas candy recipies, don't forget what trouble sticky little fingers can get into. Perhaps it's best to just stick to a cookie or two, or better yet, just taste some of the sweetest stuff of the season. Colored Pencils

November 18, 2014 by portfolio_TAWadmin

Digging in my large black portfolio for a piece to feature on my blog I came across this colored pencil drawing that I'd done from a photo I snapped on a hiking adventure with some college chums. That drawing is now 35 years old and still looks as though I had just drawn it. It got me wondering. Do drawings have an … [Read more...] about Colored Pencils

Jazz Hands

October 28, 2014 by portfolio_TAWadmin

"Jazz Hands" is the title of this little gouache painting that I recently finished. It was based on a black and white photo from the Bill Baird book about The Art of the Puppet. References have sited that jazz hands became popular in the early years of musicals. Their dramatic appearance has kept this expressive quality alive in the fields of gymnastics, dance, musicals and as an ever popular staple of show choir choreography. As my daughter once stated in her show choir years, "they show off … [Read more...] about Jazz Hands

Trick-or-Treating

October 10, 2014 by portfolio_TAWadmin

It's time for all goblins and ghosts to grab their buckets bags or sacks and put the feet to the pavement. Such a funny tradition. It's almost like glorified begging. And yet the children probably find just as much fun in the dressing up and garnering of comments about their costumes as they do in filling their treasure totes. The history of trick-or-treating does not have a clearly defined beginning. But one thing is for certain. It has found it's way into the hearts, minds and wallets of the … [Read more...] about Trick-or-Treating
